Handover|Restoring the Dignity of the People of Omega 1.

Today the Governor of Kavango East Region, Julius Hamunyera Hambyuka, handed over a newly fenced cemetery at Omega 1 Settlement worth N$968,861.

Governor Hambyuka said for years this place where parents and grandparents lay resting was vandalized and damaged by wildlife. The new fence now protects the site and restores dignity to families who come to honour their loved ones.

Deputy Director for Marginalized Communities, Ms Rebbeka Namwandi, confirmed 14 local residents were employed during construction, putting community participation first.

Divundu Village Councillor Christop Sikosi urged residents to unite in safe guarding of the cemetery.

Village Development Committee Chairperson, Festus Hafeni during the event used, highlight urgent needs: ambulance services and ID documents for elderly residents to access government grants.

The handover was attended by Chairperson of Kavango East Regional Council and Rundu Urban Councillor Stefanus Sinonge, Rundu Rural Councillor Paulus Mbangu, Mashare Constituency Councillor Petrus Kashumali, and Director of Education Christine Shilima.

Protecting sacred spaces is protecting people. Government will continue responding to community priorities and working with residents to improve service delivery.
