La neurociencia está prestando particular atención al trabajo artesanal ya que en nuestra sociedad industrializada, tecnológicamente avanzada y orientada a los servicios, las habilidades manuales han disminuido y eso cual afecta directamente al cerebro. La sensibilidad y movimiento de las manos, tan comunes entre nuestros antepasados, en la actualidad se estudian como medidas preventivas de enfermedades mentales tales como la depresión y la demencia.
Neuroscience is paying particular attention to artisanal work due to the fact that in our industrialized, technologically advanced and service-oriented society, manual skills have decreased and that directly affects the brain. The sensitivity and movement of the hands, so common among our ancestors, are currently studied as preventive measures of mental illnesses such as depression and dementia.
