As part of our mission to bridge academic learning with real-world engineering, our society organized an educational field visit to Lakvijaya Power Station, Sri Lanka’s largest coal-fired thermal power plant, located in Norochcholai.

During the visit, our members gained in-depth exposure to:
✅ The working principles of thermal power generation
✅ Turbine and boiler operations
✅ Cooling systems and ash handling mechanisms
✅ Environmental management practices in large-scale energy production
✅ The national grid’s role in energy distribution

This immersive experience provided a deeper understanding of how mechanical engineering concepts are applied at scale to power our nation.

A heartfelt thank you to the CEB staff at Lakvijaya for their hospitality, technical briefings, and for inspiring the next generation of engineers!
