*5D car mats* are the latest upgrade over 3D and 4D mats. They’re custom-fitted floor mats designed to cover more of your car’s floor, including the sides and under the seats.

*How they’re built*
- *5 layers*: Usually PU leather on top, then XPE foam, cotton, non-woven fabric, and an anti-slip backing. That’s why they’re thicker and softer underfoot.
- *Coverage*: The sides are higher and stitched to wrap up the door sills and center tunnel. That’s the “5D” part - extra edge coverage.
- *Custom fit*: Made for specific car models, so they snap in using clips and don’t slide around.

*Why people pick them*
1. *Protection*: Covers almost the entire footwell, so mud, water, and dust don’t get to the carpet. Good for Nairobi’s rainy season and dusty roads.
2. *Easy to clean*: Wipe with a damp cloth or take out and hose down. The PU leather doesn’t absorb spills.

- Make sure it’s model-specific for your car. Universal ones never fit right and curl up.
