A great Biomedical Engineer is recognised by his/her ability to minimise breakdowns.
This is not ideal but a realistic approach only when you adhere to the proper medical equipment management and maintenance process. This is possible when:
1.PPM is well actualized
2. User training is done before a staff member starts to use the equipment.
3. Adherence to the service schedule as outlined by the manufacturer or as per frequency of use of the equipment.
These 3 are among the basics to detect failure before it happens. Once this is actualized, my opening statement stands.
