We want to provide an update regarding S2000 AP2 (08-09) upholstery and the seat covers that John from LHT bought from us.
A recent video published by LHT Performance highlighted fitment concerns. As soon as this was brought to our attention by John, we initiated an internal review. The outcome shown in the video didn't meet our quality expectations, so we requested that the cushions and covers be sent to us for direct evaluation. While the covers are manufactured in accordance with original Honda specifications, we wanted to eliminate any potential variance at the cushion level.
Upon inspecting the items, we did notice looseness in the installed state. However, after identifying the correct tensioning and pull points, proper fitment was achieved immediately! Importantly, the covers themselves required no modification.
We realized that the fitment issue was due to a production error on our end rather than installation technique. This was our mistake as the original template used for the seat covers was developed for leather, which is stiff compared to suede. As a result, certain areas needed to be fixed and pulled to properly fit the 08-09 seats. We appreciate the careful work done by John and the team at LHT Performance in identifying the issue.
Both covers and cushions were additionally reviewed and quality-checked by Studio6Zero, Honda’s outsourced reupholstery partner and the original interior design team behind the NSX and S2000 programs.
We'd like to apologize to John for taking time out of his busy schedule to send back his cushions and covers. Due to this occurrence, we'd like to offer a new service.
For customers interested in a complete solution, we can help source a used seat and fully restore it. This includes reupholstering the foam cushions to OEM grade and properly installing the seat covers. We'd like to extend it further by offering our remanufactured bottom cushions. The end result is that you receive a fully assembled seat with both cushion and cover included. Please note that the metal plating will still need to be installed by a local upholstery shop.
