'Signal of Hope' Fund

'Signal of Hope' Fund Welcome to 'Signal of Hope' Fund page! The fisheries and marine products industries are the major pillars of the Tohoku coast's economy.

On 11 March 2011, the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake and its massive tsunami wiped out everything on the Tohoku coast. These industries are yet to recover. If fishing seasons are missed, local fishermen will face a year of no income and be forced to quit the industry. Moreover, fishing vessels from other prefectures will have no choice but no use other ports. The Tohoku fishing industry will be un

able to get back on its feet. The speedy restoration of fishing port functions and operations will serve as the 'Signal of Hope' for these fishermen and the entire Tohoku fishing industry. Many businesses and individuals sympathetic to the plight of the Tohoku fishing industry have already started donating money and equipment to the 'Signal of Hope Project' to support the resumption of Tohoku fisheries.
