MICRO - DIAPHRAGM WALLS

The wide range of problems, and the desire to meet the pressing needs of this rapidly evolving field, led the engineers of ADAMAS
CONSTRUCTIONS, a company specializing in underground
construction, to undertake a serious commitment to the creation of car parks in ever more confined spaces.
The machinery conceived by us has been created in order to function in historical centres and underground areas of reduced dimensions. The micro-diaphragm walls opens a new door in the size of the containment bulkheads, a support structure made from 30 cm thick reinforced concrete.

OPERATION MODE:
This is carried out with a specialized digging tool equipped with a
mechanical grab measuring 30 x 200 cm.
The excavation is carried out in "multiples of the bucket plus 40 cm.", therefore the possible dimensions would be. 200, 440 (the dimensions may be varied at the discretion of ADAMAS CONSTRUCTIONS). Drilling takes place where necessary with the aid of bentonite and / or polymers to stabilize the ground.
The cage armature, composed of several sections, is put in place at the end of the excavation and jointed in situ (with overlapping bars). Subsequently the Rck and SLUMP concrete is poured, according to the project, through the special bottom of borehole hopper, until completely filled up.

MICRO-DIAPHRAGM WALLS IN 300mm THICK REINFORCED CONCRETE
Construction of 30cm reinforced concrete micro-diaphragms
walls 300 mm,with a resistance of Rck = 300 Kg. /cm2, in soils of
any nature and consistency, even in the presence of ground
water, carried out with the use of special equipment capable of
operating in areas of small dimensions and areas limited in
height by overhead obstructions such as power lines, bridges or
roof height inside buildings. The minimum operating height is
3m.20 in the vicinity of buildings even old ones, "technology of
passive stress harmful to the properties in the neighbourhood "
or where for reasons of space and security it is not feasible to use
the equipment commonly employed.
The perforation is undertaken with the use of bentonite and / or
polymers where necessary to stabilize the ground. The cage
armature, composed of several sections, is put in place at the
end of the excavation and jointed in situ (with overlapping bars).
Subsequently the concrete is poured, through the special
bottom of borehole hopper, until completely filled up.

In the price the following services are included and payable:
Installation and dismantling of the building site, construction of
driving curbs, excavation of the diaphragm walls including the
supply and laying of the concrete, any necessary vacuum
excavation, the placing of the reinforcement cages. Not included
and payable separately is the transport to the waste disposal site
of mud and soil resulting from the excavation, the iron structure of
the diaphragms walls, the levelling and the consolidation of the
diaphragms walls heads.

KEY BENEFITS:
Lower construction costs
Reduction in construction time
Better quality of the finished product
Less visual impact of the equipment used
Minimal disturbance caused to the surrounding areas

KEY POINTS:
GUARANTEED RESULTS
The system of Adamas Constructions makes it possible to create or convert spaces previously considered
unusable. Green spaces, basements, ground floor rooms, offer the opportunity to increase the usable area.
Furthermore, by law underground areas do not constitute measurable space and thus impose no particular
problems of authorization by the competentAuthority.
The construction of underground areas allows:
the positioning of technical environments underground (power plants, facilities, warehouses, parking ...),
converting the ground floor space to more profitable use (lobby, rooms, bars etc ...).
The reuse of properties otherwise abandoned due to a lack of the technical structures required for the change
in requirements.

OBJECTIVE:
Micro-diaphragms walls, the new way to create underground structures: Garages, swimming pools, cellars, vaults.
STRENGTHS:
The Grillo Talpa®, one of the machines designed by ADAMAS CONSTRUCTIONS, is able to operate in
confined spaces, which cannot normally be accessed using conventional machinery.
MEET NEEDS:
The technology of ADAMAS CONSTRUCTIONS , delivers affordable underground projects difficult to achieve
with traditional systems, economically disadvantageous with traditional systems, such as Berlinese micropiles,
drying-piles, etc...

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS OF THE MICRODIAPHRAGM WALLS:
MICRODIAPHRAGM WALLS IN 300mm GUIDED REINFORCED CONCRETE
USED IN COMPACT TERRAIN AND FRIABLE ROCKS
Construction of micro-diaphragm walls in 300mm reinforced
concrete, having resistance Rck = 300 Kg. / Cm., in terrain of any
nature and texture, "compacted soil, friable rock" or in the
presence of ground water, to be performed with the use of special
equipment capable of operating in confined spaces and areas
limited in height by overhead obstructions such as power lines,
bridges or roof height inside buildings. The minimum operating
height is 3m.20 in the vicinity of buildings even old ones,
“technology of passive stress harmful to the properties in the
neighbourhood " or where for reasons of space and security it is
not feasible to use the equipment commonly employed.
The digging is done by special clamshell buckets, after drilling
with percussion drilling machines or rotary percussion or using
continuous pilot bore-holes and if disintegrating bore-holes are
needed, where necessary these bored out guides are filled with a
premixed plastic-bentonite product which can be assimilated by
compacted clays able to be dug out again then proceeding with
the excavation of the bulkheads in the presence of bentonite and
/ or polymers for the consolidation of the ground. At the end of the
excavation is the laying of the cage armature composed of
several sections, which are jointed in situ (with overlapping of the
bars). The concrete is then laid from the hopper through the
bottom of hole hopper until completely full. In the price the
following services are included and payable: Installation and
dismantling of the building site, construction of driving curbs,
excavation of the diaphragm walls including the supply and
laying of the concrete, any necessary vacuum excavation, the
placing of the reinforcement cages. Not included and payable
separately is the transport to the waste disposal site of mud and
soil resulting from the excavation, the iron structure of the
diaphragms walls, the levelling and the consolidation of the
diaphragm walls heads.

300 mm WATERPROOF MICRODIAPHRAGM WALLS
MADE WITH PRE-MIXED SELF-CURING MATERIAL
Operating procedure.
(single-type phase: excavation of the diaphragm walls
occurs in the presence of permanent self-curing
mixture).
The self-curing sludge obtained with the premixed
material is introduced directly at the time of excavation,
initially having the role of a drilling fluid, then acquiring
the characteristics of strength, waterproofing and
indeformability required by the project.
Such a diaphragm walls is made in situ by digging with
special hydraulic or mechanical clamshell grabs. During
drilling the level of the mixture must constantly be
maintained in the vicinity of the work area and in no case
should it be allowed to diminish, thus reducing the free
respect of the maximum piezometric reading of
groundwater to a value of less than 1.00 m.
The sequence of excavation is to alternate elements
performed in successive stages (primary and secondary
panels).
The excavation of the primary and secondary panels
must be partly overlapped, to ensure the continuity and
the hydraulic seal of the diaphragm walls, with a
minimum overlap of 25 cm.The excavation of the
secondary panels is carried out when the self-hardening
mixture present in the primary panels has set.
In order to ensure maximum accuracy in both the
verticality of the panels and in the planning layout with
fixed and movable references, it is necessary that
excavations be carried out within suitable drive-curbs in
reinforced concrete constructed in situ according to the
project.
The construction of a 300mm plastic-mixture Self-
Curing Micro-diaphragm walls, is carried out by
hydraulic or cord excavator equipped with a clamshell
bucket measuring 2.00 x 0.30. m. Achievable in soils of
any nature and consistency, even in the presence of
ground water, performed with the use of special
equipment capable of operating in confined areas such
tracks between 3.00 4.00m wide, in areas limited in
height by overhead obstructions such as power lines,
bridges or inside buildings, with a minimum operating
height of 3.20m in the vicinity of even old buildings,
"technology of passive stress harmful to the properties
in the neighbourhood" or where for reasons of space
and security it is not feasible to use the equipment
commonly employed.
In the price the following are included and payable :
Installation and de-installation of the site, the
construction of drive-curbs, excavation of the
diaphragm walls including the supply and laying of
premix in situ, with a maximum absorption of up to 25%
of the theoretical volume of the excavation. Excluded
and payable separately is the transport to disposal sites
of drilling mud and soil resulting from the excavations.
