Expert Bio:
Born in 1992, Robert Fennis is an Electrical Engineer specializing in Telecommunication Engineering. He earned both his Bachelor’s (2016) and Master’s (2019) degrees from the University of Twente.
Robert began his career at Thales Netherlands, where he spent five years as an Antenna Engineer. His work covered the full lifecycle of military radar systems, including reflector, LVA, and phased array antennas. During this time, he also contributed to the R&D of modern radar systems and developed software modeling for sidelobe degradation in space frame radomes. In 2024, he joined the European Space Agency (ESA) through HE Space, supporting missions such as ROSE-L, Genesis, and Sunrise.
In 2025, Robert released EMerge, a Python-based FEM solver, as a hobby project. Alongside this, he continues to develop Optycal, a Physical Optics solver, and Heavi, a linear circuit simulator. In early 2026, he transitioned from ESA to begin establishing his own enterprise, EMerge Numerics BV, through which he intends to provide consultancy in antenna design and electromagnetic simulation software.
