Plate Heat Exchanger (PHE)!!!
A Plate Heat Exchanger (PHE) is one of the most efficient heat transfer devices used across industries. It transfers heat between two fluids through a series of thin, corrugated metal plates without allowing the fluids to mix. Thanks to its compact design, high thermal efficiency, and ease of maintenance, PHEs are widely used in chemical plants, food processing, HVAC systems, pharmaceuticals, and power plants.
Main Components:
▶️ Stationary End Frame - Supports the plate pack and fixed piping connections.
▶️ Movable End Frame - Compresses or releases the plate pack for maintenance.
▶️ Heat Transfer Plates - Corrugated stainless steel plates that maximize heat transfer area.
▶️ Gaskets - Seal each plate and direct fluid flow through alternate channels.
▶️ Top & Bottom Carrying Bars - Support and align the plates.
▶️ Tie Rods & Nuts - Compress the plate pack to ensure leak-free operation.
▶️ Flow Distribution Zone - Evenly distributes fluids across the plate surface.
▶️ Inlet & Outlet Connections - Provide entry and exit points for hot and cold fluids.
▶️ Frame Foot - Supports the entire heat exchanger assembly.
Working Principle:
1. Hot fluid enters through one inlet and flows through alternate plate channels.
2. Cold fluid enters through the opposite side and flows in adjacent channels.
3. Heat passes through the thin metal plates while the fluids remain completely separated.
4. The hot fluid cools down, and the cold fluid absorbs heat.
5. Both fluids exit through their respective outlets at the desired temperatures.
