Even high-quality wiper blades wear out over time. If they no longer clear your windscreen properly, it may be time for a replacement. Here’s a quick guide to help you recognise the most common signs of wear before visibility becomes a problem👇🏼

1️⃣ Signs your wiper blades need replacing

🔹The windscreen stays smeared or unclear after rain.
🔹The blades judder, squeak, or move unevenly across the glass.
🔹Fine scratches begin to appear due to dirt trapped under the rubber edge.

2️⃣Helpful tip

Most wiper blades should be checked regularly and are typically replaced every 6–12 months, depending on usage and driving conditions. Keeping them in good condition helps maintain clear visibility and safer driving.

3️⃣How to check if they’re worn out

If the blades still look fine but aren’t cleaning properly, wipe the rubber edge with a soft cloth, warm water, and a little soap.
If there’s no improvement afterwards, it’s probably time for a new set.

4️⃣Types of wiper blades

🔹Conventional (framed) blades - a traditional design with reliable contact against the windscreen.
🔹Beam (frameless) blades - lightweight, modern, and effective in heavy rain and at higher speeds.
🔹Hybrid blades - combine features of both styles for improved aerodynamics and stable performance.

Before buying, make sure you choose the correct blade size for your vehicle and select an option suitable for your everyday driving conditions.

5️⃣Why replacing them matters

Worn wiper blades can reduce visibility and make driving less safe, especially during heavy rain. Over time, damaged blades may also affect the wiper mechanism or leave marks on the windscreen.

If you’ve noticed your wiper blades aren’t performing as they should, contact AAP - we’ll help you choose the right option for your vehicle🤝

Coolant should be selected by spec — not colour.

IAT, OAT, HOAT, LOBRID— different chemistry.
G11 / G12+ / G13 — different requirements.

Get it wrong → real engine damage.
