A quick noodle on this 12.5" Red Deer skin drum before shipping her off to Cavan. Lovely Low-End and Mids coming out of this skin, tuned very low then a little higher.

Don't be fooled by the colours and designs. The sound my drums can make ALWAYS comes first for me.

I have kept skin from this animal for one of my own personal drums in the near future. Deer hide has a bit of a reputation for a harsh hard skin, this can be true sometimes but is unfair, the mass of a deer skin allows for amazing bass and mids and the harder pops are always there too.

A quick sound sample of a recent custom drum with a thin but somewhat hard Goat Hide. A lot of people think deeper or larger diameter rims are needed for more bass, this is not true. These 12.5" shells are more than capable of producing very low, dense and resonant bass notes. Please excuse the dodgy playing.

This is a gorgeous, heavy skin and sounds amazing, I am going to keep a section from the same animal for a personal drum for myself.

Green/White/Blue/Black fade with high gloss finish. A very difficult drum to photograph in the sun.
