👏 👏 👏 On February 24, 2026, President John Dramani Mahama of the Republic of Ghana, accompanied by Minister of Trade and Industry Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Western Region Governor Joseph Nelson, and Minister of Fisheries and Shama District Councillor Emelia Arthur, visited Twyford(Ghana) Together with Mr. Yanchang Shen, Chairman of Twyford International, and Mr. Lorry Li, General Manager of Twyford(Ghana), they cut the sod to inaugurate Ghana's first float glass factory, invested and constructed by the company.
1️⃣ The President delivered an important speech. He highly praised the significance of the glass factory project, considering it a crucial milestone in Ghana's transformation from an import-substitution industry to an export-oriented industry.
The President pointed out that Ghana currently relies heavily on imported glass products and earnestly hopes that the new project will reverse this situation. The President said. “With the full operation of this new project, Ghana will become a major glass exporter in the region.”
2️⃣ Mr. Yanchang Shen, Chairman of Twyford International, recalled his exchange with the President last October, stating that the glass plant project is a concrete manifestation of the company's commitment to the Presidential Investment Forum and emphasizing the company's long-term investment and development strategy in Ghana.“Thanks to Ghana’s continuously improving investment environment and clear policy guidance, we have always regarded Ghana as one of the most promising and stable investment destinations in Africa, and are firmly committed to continuing to expand our investment in Ghana.” said Mr. Yanchang Shen.
3️⃣ Mr. Lorry Li, General Manager of Twyford(Ghana), expressed gratitude for the consistent support from the Ghanaian government. “This is another important milestone for the company, but it's just the beginning. We look forward to growing and developing together with Ghana, contributing more to the future of Ghana's manufacturing industry,” said Mr. Lorry Li.
💰 The float glass factory represents a total investment of nearly US$100 million and is designed to produce 600 tons of float glass per day, aiming to fill the gap in Ghana's local glass production. The project is expected to be completed next year and is expected to create more than 1,000 direct jobs once it is fully completed.
Currently, Twyford(Ghana)'s domestic investments cover tiles, sanitary ware, and glass, with products exported to more than 20 countries and regions. Looking to the future, Twyford(Ghana) will actively respond to Ghana's "24-hour economy" policy, continuously upgrading its technology and capabilities to improve the development level of the local building materials industry with higher-quality products, and further enhance the "Made in Ghana" brand in the international market.
