EU says Russia's airspace to be closed until 2029 😱ðŸ¤
Restrictions on civil aviation flights in the Russian airspace will remain in force until at least 2029, said the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation (Eurocontrol).
Eurocontrol also pointed to the decline in flights through Northern Europe from Asia due to the need to redirect routes through Southeastern countries.
Last February, EU countries, as well as the US and Canada, closed the airspace to Russian airlines. The UK banned Aeroflot and Russian private planes from flying.
In addition, Western countries placed a complete ban on the supply of aircraft and components and disallowed insurance and maintenance of Russian planes.
Earlier in December 2022, Willie Walsh, head of the International Air Transport Association, said the West should reconsider its views and prepare for the resumption of flights through Russian airspace.
