Recently, Wood-Mizer visited several customers in Denmark who use their sawmills not only to build amazing things from wood, but also to follow their passion and create their own path to success. ✨

We met “The Flying Carpenter,” who combines his woodworking business with flying a plane. We visited an 80-year-old sawmiller still confidently operating his LT15CLASSIC. And near Copenhagen, we met two brothers who build boats using a hydraulic LT20 sawmill.

Poplar: A Tree Shaped by the Landscape. 🎥

The presence of poplar trees across the Granada banks is not accidental. Their history is closely connected to the agricultural development of the region.

“Poplar is perfectly adapted to this territory,” explains Antolino Gallego, researcher and professor at the University of Granada. “Historically it helped manage the water and protect the agricultural economy. Now we are rediscovering its potential as a structural material for buildings.”

Although Granada still has abundant timber resources, the region’s sawmilling capacity has nearly disappeared. To address this bottleneck, the research center installed a Wood-Mizer LT40WIDE portable sawmill.

🔶 The choice of the LT40WIDE was strategic. The machine offers the flexibility required for research while also providing the capacity needed to process large logs. With its WIDE cutting head, the sawmill can handle logs up to 90 cm in diameter and up to 8 meters in length, allowing researchers to process large poplar stems commonly found in the region.

✨ Wood-Mizer LX30 - the story of Tim Zipoll from Germany. ✨

There is always work to be done on the farm. Buildings need maintenance and renovation, and much of the wood required for these projects comes from Tim’s own forest.

For years, he had considered sawing his own lumber. As projects grew, he realized a professional solution would make the work much easier.

👉 After researching different options, Tim chose the Wood-Mizer LX30 band sawmill with a gasoline engine. The decision was straightforward: strong value for money, local support from Wood-Mizer in nearby Schletau, and a convenient blade sharpening service.

Today, Tim can turn logs from his forest into beams and boards for projects around the farm.
