We're in a limestone area, so despite there being plenty of water around, sometimes the river just disappears (and then further down, comes back again). In the 2nd picture, I'm standing in middle of riverbed looking at site where there used to be a footbridge for me to inspect, but it recently was washed away in floods! Time for another bite of my pork pie.

So this week I had to take a walk through a Natural England nature reserve to inspect some footbridges. I have a bottle of water and from a local butcher's a home made pork pie, and I'm thinking what a lovely job I have.
