It was great to attend the Screen Yorkshire Growth Plan 2026 Event in Leeds last month.

The industry may still be quiet right now, but that only makes events like these more important.

Coming together to collaborate, share ideas and shape what's next for Yorkshire's screen sector is exactly the kind of energy we need. Yorkshire already has a lot to offer the TV industry and so much potential. 🙌

It was a really valuable day, connecting with others in the industry, hearing different perspectives and thinking about the road ahead.

Another fantastic team day! 🙌

Once a year, we close the office and come together to celebrate who we are, reflect on our journey, and plan for what's ahead, and this year didn’t disappoint.

This year's theme? Understanding ourselves and each other. Here's a little peek at what we got up to:

🎨 Discovered our colour personalities and ‘Working Geniuses'
🎢 Tested our creativity and team-building skills with the straw rollercoaster challenge
🙋 Learnt some fun (and surprising) facts about each other in our icebreakers
🏆 Introduced our brand-new value awards and celebrated our first winners (more on that coming soon!)

Stuck in a lift and going into labour 😲

Not exactly ideal circumstances… but that’s for you!

Charity found herself trapped in a lift, delivering a baby as a surrogate for her granddaughter Sarah, and partner, Jacob.

It was an absolute pleasure to supply our maternity props for the birth scenes, along with our hospital ward props to support Charity’s recovery following a very frightening post-birth bleed.

Will the secret about the baby be revealed? 👀

It's Mental Health Awareness week, and while we love the conversation it sparks, we wanted to share a little of what we're actually doing at Medical Hire to look after our team. 🤗

This year, we introduced an extra holiday day for everyone, a dedicated 'wellbeing day' to use however you need it. No agenda, no explanation required. Sometimes you just need to refill your cup. ☕

We've also made our (new!) office a space that feels good to be in. More chill-out areas, some greenery (plants really do make everything better), and standing desks for those who like to work on their feet.

And then there's Hunter. Our office dog, who can lift anyone’s mood. I think we enjoy the cuddles as much as he does 🐶

We know these are small steps, and there's always so much more we can do, but we are always thinking and learning.

If you're ever struggling and need someone to talk to, we can't recommend Mind enough 💙. A brilliant charity doing important work to support people with their mental health. And The Film and TV Charity for those in the film industry.

A weekend exploring Budapest 🇭🇺, and we couldn't pass up a visit to the 'Hospital in the Rock’ museum - what used to be a real working hospital built into a nuclear bunker beneath the city, used through both World Wars and the 1956 Revolution.

Touring the tunnels and seeing so much original medical equipment still in place was so fascinating... and gave us plenty of inspiration should Medical Hire ever venture into vintage props! 😃
