It is with an incredibly heavy heart that we inform you of the passing of one of our directors, Andy Smith who lost his battle to cancer on March 4th 2025. As a company, our deepest sympathies and condolences are with Andy's family and loved ones in this emotionally challenging time.

Born in Hillingdon on the 9th January 1968. Andy was a devoted Chelsea fan. In more recent times, he found immense joy within his man cave and has always carried a strong and firm interest in matters of a historical nature. The Ark of the Covenant really did capture his interest and that led him to Scotland on more than one occasion!

One true devotion that Andy held throughout his years was to his work and business ventures. A relentless and wholehearted passion to be the best within his field drove him to the successful position he found himself in as a proud business owner. In 1993, he himself and Tony Carter joined forces to launch Southern Vulcanizing Ltd. A company that grew and grew and still thrives to this very day. In addition to this, he carried his love for volumetric trucks to a higher plane. In both cases, Andy's experience and knowledge was a hugely key component into the great success of both businesses. His loss will be greatly felt within Southern Vulcanizing just as much on an emotional level as it will a working one.

Andy was a true character and a genuine peoples person. Loved by many, his loss will reach many far and wide. His sense of humour coupled with his generous nature helped build relationships throughout his life and he is rightly lauded for these traits. We all have many wonderful memories of Andy and we should cherish them as fondly as possible. It’s a time of sadness but also an opportunity to remember, respect and acknowledge what a wonderful man he was and that his loss will greatly affect many of us. We hope he is reunited with his brother, Wayne (who we also lost to cancer in June 2024).
May his soul rest in peace
