It is with great sadness and regretful notice that I am announcing that Modulamb is closing down .

What stock is left (all unused brand new) will be advertised to be sold by public auction by Rugby Mart in the next couple of months.

Sad day.

The 2024-25 RBST Watchlist is now available!!!

The Watchlist is produced using breed society data we are able to assess the conservation status of each of our native breeds.

Taking into account parameters including the Effective Population Size, breed numbers, disease risk and geographic concentration.

The RBST Watchlist 2024-25 shows which of the UK’s cattle, sheep, pig, goat, poultry and equine breeds are now the most urgent ‘Priority’ concerns, which remain ‘At Risk’, and which are currently non-rare native breeds.

You can view all the Watchlist information & download a copy here: https://www.rbst.org.uk/watchlist-overview

Should you have any questions or queries relating to the Watchlist, please email: [email protected]

Not that any one needs reminding but next week is the Westmorland County Agricultural Show, at Crooklands,

I will be setting up on Tuesday and there standing the event on Wednesday and Thursday, on my usual pitch, which is between John Cornthwaite, Wearings of Wrea Green and the Midlands Clothing tent, all three of which are long term family values business who put the customer first , an ethic I too have been brought up on.

So please call and see me, I’m always glad to meet up with old friends and make new ones, and hopefully also get a few orders and enquiries too!

Called to do a site visit for a long term customer today who we supplied with a full scale sheep handling yard, penning and handling race last year.

They are highly delighted with how it’s worked out and they have incorporated one or two additional items they already had in to the set up.

This system is what we call a “standard”, which means that rather than having the curved panels of our popular “compact” or “starter” instead uses straight sheeted hurdles to work with the hosking gate to sweep the sheep around in a 90 deg turn.
It also incorporates swing gates in frames, sliding gate hurdles, and a 3 way drafting shedding gate as well as a folding stop gate, and standard guillotine gate ,
Railed penning is used to create holding areas and penning as well as a perimeter fence with multi access.

I’m very pleased that they are as proud of it as I am .
