Bespoke Retrocraft

Bespoke Retrocraft I'm an engineer who enjoys making pieces you won't find elsewhere. I make all kinds of bespoke art and make very few items twice.

Everything is hand made by me from scratch.

All done πŸ‘
I really like this one and really got into making it.
It started with a weights bar and then progressed.
I hope you like it πŸ˜€

I don't normally do progress updates but thought I would share this one.
I still need to decide what to do with the hair. Also need to wire brush and clear coat it.
Honestly the photos don't do it justice. The head is around 6' tall.
I started with an old weights bar and the idea grew from there.

An old suspension spring from a car.
Cleaned up and then a base made. The spring doesn't naturally sit level so I routered out the shape of the first part of the coil into a hardwood base.
It is quite tall, the bulb itself is 30cm and the can is for scale.

Simple and effective πŸ‘

This one is made from a petrol tank from a Honda moped and is around 50-60yrs old.
It is great to give old stuff a new lease of life.
I have given it an acrylic clear coat to protect the old look and give a shine.

Cheers πŸ™‚

The van is with Mikas Design to have a wrap done. I really can't wait to see this completed.
We've had ideas back and forth and now have a finished design.
I'll post it when it's done, hopefully tomorrow πŸ™‚πŸ‘

This one was made for a very good customer Ross at Heavy Metal Piercing for Clare at Hihopes Aesthetics, Tattoos & Permanent Makeup
Ross asked me to make two skulls held up by hands to make the silhouette of a heart for Clare. I am really pleased with the result and most importantly so are Ross and Clare.

What an individual piece for a special couple πŸ˜ƒ

Doing a lot of work on the "new" work van at the minute. It is getting wrapped next Thurs/Fri at Mikas Design. I am really excited to see it done.
Today I replaced all four springs to save my spine from the rock hard ones it came with. I made a better exhaust mounting bracket so I can get over speed bumps now.
I also replaced a split CV boot.
I have recently re-fitted a cassette player to it πŸ˜†I have tapes in the van including NOW 13, Hits '96, Lisa Stansfield and Terence Trent D'Arby.
It is great not having it hooked up to a phone, nobody calling you when you are driving πŸ‘

I've not had a chance to post much recently, too busy in the workshop πŸ™‚

This heart is made from lots of old rollers from a six speed gearbox. The rollers are a shiny steel colour before I weld them together and if I wire brushed them now they would go back to that. I prefer the various dark colours made by the heat of welding.
Can for scale in one of the photos.

This will be in The Scottish Design Exchange later today. Why not pop along to see some more of my work? Lots of amazing artists have work on display there too.

Cheers πŸ‘

I haven't done one of these for a while and this one is going in the The Scottish Design Exchange in the next few days.
You can see it in the window next week πŸ‘

This time I haven't put it on a steel base. I really like the clean look like this. It is very stable.

Cheers πŸ‘

Something a bit different.
A skull and crossbones today. I put a thin rebar rod at the back so that this is free standing.
What you can do with some rebar, chain and nuts πŸ™‚
