A great day in Scotland with the IndiNature team!

Yesterday, members of our Irish team had the pleasure of visiting IndiNature, where we received a very warm welcome, and some excellent Scottish hospitality.
It was a valuable opportunity to spend time together, share insights from the natural insulation market in Ireland and the UK, and exchange ideas on how we can build on the growing interest in natural insulation and IndiBreathe Flex.
A highlight of the visit was seeing the IndiNature factory in action. From getting hands-on with the h**p and recycled jute fibres to seeing how production offcuts are collected and fed straight back into the manufacturing process, it was fascinating to see the level of care and efficiency behind the product.

A big thank you to Brian, Will and Amy, and the wider IndiNature team, for taking such good care of us throughout the day – and a special thank you to Brian for sending each of us home with some handmade Scottish tablet. A very thoughtful finishing touch to a great visit!

We came away with plenty of ideas and are looking forward to continuing to grow our partnership and the natural insulation market in Ireland and the UK.

Not all airtightness tapes are designed in the same way. When choosing a tape, it’s worth considering what you’re relying on it to do, not just during installation, but for years afterwards.

What will it stick to?
Different substrates present different challenges. A reliable airtightness tape needs to form a strong bond with the materials it will actually encounter on site.

How does the bond develop?
Good initial adhesion makes installation easier, but you should also ask about the strength and development of the adhesive bond over time.

Will it stay stuck?
An airtight connection needs to remain secure long after the work has been covered up and is no longer accessible.

And has that performance been tested?
Independent testing and evidence of long-term durability are worth looking into when comparing products that can look very similar on the roll.

We have some exciting news! 🌾🏆

EcoCocon - Straw Wall System has been shortlisted for the Product/System Innovation Award at the 2026 Structural Timber Awards.

And there is a lot behind that recognition.

We’re heading to ZEB Summit 2026!

On 23rd September, we'll be at the RDS Dublin for a full day focused on the practical delivery of better-performing, lower-energy buildings, from deep retrofit to high-performance new build.

You’ll find us at Stand 37, where our team will be on hand throughout the day to talk airtightness, natural insulation and fabric-first solutions for both retrofit and new build projects.

Our Group Technical Director Niall Crosson will also be taking to the ZEB Lab stage at 1:45pm, joining Joseph Little and Rosanne Walker for “Stone Walls and Science: Retrofitting Traditional Buildings Without Wrecking Them”.

With international speakers, technical sessions, workshops and some of the industry’s leading names all under one roof, ZEB Summit is a very worthwhile day for anyone involved in designing and delivering high-performance buildings.

Damp is a common problem in older buildings, but if it keeps coming back after repairs, it’s a sign that the underlying cause has not been properly addressed.

Traditional buildings were constructed to manage moisture differently from most modern buildings. Before treating a damp wall, it’s important to understand where the moisture is coming from and how the existing building fabric is designed to deal with it.

Penetrating damp can have several causes, including:

🔹 Defective gutters, downpipes or roof drainage
🔹 Cracked or damaged render and pointing
🔹 Exposed masonry and vulnerable junctions around windows, roofs and chimneys
🔹 External ground levels or detailing that allows water to collect against walls

Once the source has been identified and repaired, choose the materials being used to upgrade the building carefully. Using appropriate, moisture-open materials can help the structure manage moisture and dry effectively, rather than simply concealing the signs of damp.
