Autumn has entered the chat… 🍂🌧️

Falling leaves and wetter weather are a pretty good reminder of why effective surface water management matters.

Welcome to the team, Melissa! 👋

We’re pleased to welcome Melissa to Manthorpe Building Products as the latest addition to our team!

Melissa brings five years of experience in administration and customer service, having previously worked at Denby Pottery, where she developed her skills in supporting customers and managing day-to-day enquiries.

She’s looking forward to starting a new chapter at Manthorpe, getting to know the team and continuing to do what she enjoys most – helping and speaking with customers.

Originally from Ripley, Melissa enjoys spending her free time exploring the countryside with her six-year-old terrier, Frank, heading off on holidays and trying new foods. She’s also a fan of thriller books, horror films and catching up with friends and family.

And a fun fact? Melissa’s four-legged companion, Frank, is always up for an adventure, including joining her on holidays to North Wales! 🐶

A look behind the scenes at Manthorpe! 👀

It was great to welcome the team from The Loft Men to our Ripley site for a factory tour.

The visit gave the team an opportunity to see where our products are manufactured, take a closer look at the processes behind them and learn more about Manthorpe and our product ranges.

There’s nothing quite like seeing it all first-hand, so it was great to spend some time showing the team around and answering their questions along the way.

Today marks World Habitat Day. 🌿🏠

This year’s theme, ‘Adequate Housing for All’, is a chance to think about the homes and communities we’re creating for the future – and the role nature can play within them.

As modern homes have become better sealed and more energy-efficient, many traditional spaces wildlife used for nesting and roosting have gradually disappeared. For species such as swifts and bats, making space for them within new developments is becoming increasingly important.

That’s where considering biodiversity from the very start can make a real difference. 💯

Our Swift Nesting Bricks and Bat Ridge Roosts are designed to integrate directly into new homes, providing dedicated spaces for wildlife as part of the building itself. It’s an approach already being put into practice on developments such as Keepmoat’s 506-home Gedling Old Colliery development, where both solutions have been incorporated. 🌱

Product focus: G630 Felt Lap Ventilator 🔍

When additional ventilation is needed in an existing roof space, the G630 offers a simple solution without the need for major changes to the roof.

Poor ventilation can contribute to condensation building up within loft spaces, particularly during the colder months. The G630 can be retrofitted between the laps of existing felt or membrane to introduce additional airflow into the roof space and help improve ventilation.

Installation can be carried out by one person, making it a straightforward option for installers working with existing roof constructions.

The G630 is also manufactured from recycled material and is recyclable at the end of its service life.

A smarter approach to sustainable drainage. 🌱

The B125 Drive Drain has been designed with circularity in mind, using 100% recycled polypropylene and a mono-material construction that means it can be fully recycled at the end of its life.

And it’s not just about the material. Through geometry-led engineering, the B125 Drive Drain delivers the strength and performance required to meet EN 1433 standards, including 125kN channel load performance.

This October, we’re taking a closer look at how considered product design can help reduce reliance on virgin materials and support a more circular approach across construction.

Welcome to the team, Danielle! 👋

We’re pleased to welcome Danielle Chamberlain to Manthorpe Building Products as our new Senior Customer Care Co-Ordinator.

Danielle brings plenty of experience in customer service and sales, having previously worked within the building products sector looking after UK merchants, before spending the last three years in stainless steel manufacturing supporting global export sales.

She’s looking forward to returning to an industry she knows well and supporting our growing team with processing orders and looking after our customers.

Outside of work, Danielle enjoys holidays, watching football and F1, and spending time with her family. She’s also a big country music fan and is currently celebrating a whole year of turning 30 by ticking something off her bucket list every month – most recently seeing Luke Combs at Wembley!

And a fun fact? Danielle has a rabbit called Neco, named after her favourite Nottingham Forest player. 🐰

Meet our Product Designer, Ben, who has been part of the Manthorpe Building Products team for over 18 years! 💙

Working as part of our R&D team, Ben has seen plenty of growth and change during his time at Manthorpe, alongside the development and launch of many new products.

As a Product Designer, Ben has been able to leave his own mark on the products he’s helped to create over the years. One he’s particularly proud of is our Swift Nesting Brick, and he still enjoys spotting them out in the wild being put to use.

Outside of work, Ben is often found up a mountain or out on a countryside trail, usually trying to bag another summit or trig pillar. In 2017, he climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, an experience which reignited his passion for the outdoors and has since led him to climb mountains in several countries around the world.

When he’s a little closer to home, Ben enjoys running a parkrun, woodworking in his garage or helping friends out with some DIY – even if that can sometimes feel like a bit of a busman’s holiday!

We’re proud to have Ben as part of the team! 👏
