It's Monday again! Matt and Imogen have been dodging the rain to get more work done on the Studio. It may not look like much progress has been made, but we've succeeded on getting 3 coats of wood preserver down in between showers! Next up, walls and roof frame!

It's the International Day of Climate Action. Climate change is the biggest threat that faces us today, and in our own small way we at Catwards are playing a part in the fight. For the last few years we have worked to help design equipment for the maintenance of off-shore wind turbines.

It’s Ada Lovelace day!
Today is all about raising awareness of the contributions of women to the fields science, technology, engineering and mathematics. We want to use this as an opportunity to talk about our very own female pioneer, Cathy Warne, founder of Catwards.
Cathy begun working in a drawing office at 16, in an incredibly male dominated field, it was a huge leap and along with a natural aptitude for the job, she worked incredibly hard. Back in those days it was Rotring pens, lettering stencils and proper drawing boards.
The foundations of ingenuity, hard work and proper technique served her well throughout her career, through the transition from pen and paper to digital design.
In 2000 Cathy made the leap to self-employment, and in 2003 set up Catwards.
22 years later, the company that she founded is still going strong, a testament to the brilliant woman who started it all. Thank you Cathy!

Monday again! Hard to believe it's October with the weather we've been having. Another fantastic weekend for us in the garden, we've nearly finished off the foundation and have our first uprights in! It's really beginning to take shape. This is the largest scale DIY project we've ever attempted, and so far, aside from Imogen cutting a couple of lengths too short (measure twice, cut once!) and Matt getting a few splinters, it's going very well!

We hope you and all your garden fences survived Storm Amy! Autumn is certainly in the air. Our farmer neighbours took full advantage of the weather last week and were busy harvesting all the maize, which means we got a front row seat to the action! Photo was taken from our office window. Imogen is like a little kid when it comes to farm machinery, so it was a great day for her!

It’s Monday again folks! Did you know that it’s here in the UK?
Badgers are Matt’s favourite animal. We’re lucky enough to live quite close to a badger sett, and often will see their footprints on the farm after their nocturnal adventures.
Did you know that Badgers play a crucial role by creating habitat for other wildlife? They are nature’s civil engineers, their underground burrows helping to aerate the soil, improving drainage and encouraging plant growth. Foxes, rabbits, and even reptiles will often take up residence in abandoned badger setts.
