This week, we're excited to share our work on a classic BMW motorcycle cast rear wheel hub. This project involved complex geometry and innovative changes to the spoke mounting method. During development a number of variations were produced before landing on the final form. We're happy to work with our customers to enable them to benefit from our design and manufacturing experience.

This week at Scantech, we're sharing the transformation of a classic motorcycle rear wheel hub. Starting from a 3D scan, we made substantial modifications to meet our client's specific requirements. As you can see, the end result captures the form of the original part while adapting the hub to suit the application.

From a detailed 3D scan of the original part, we crafted a precise CAD model with a few tweaks to suit our client's needs. To give better context, we assembled it with a brake rotor, helping our client visualise scale and dimensions perfectly.

Not only is today Easter Monday, it's also April Fools Day!

Our favourite April Fool's Day prank comes from BMW on April Fools Day 2009! Here's a snippet from a news article at the time:

"BMW reveals Magnetic Tow Technology. The unique system works via a discreet unit located in the front valance that projects an enhanced magnetic beam 20 metres in front of the BMW. Once a suitable target car is located and the BMW is magnetically locked on behind it, the driver is then able to take his foot off the accelerator, turn off the engine and let the car in front do all the work. The towing car will not notice any change in manoeuvrability."
