After a week of being completely stalled by the heatwave, we’re back on the van build and we’ve reached one of the biggest milestones yet!

The electrical system in our 2014 Mercedes Sprinter conversion is now LIVE!

The batteries, inverter, fuse boards, and main wiring are all installed and powered up. We’ve still got the shore hook-up, 230V circuits, and appliances to connect, but seeing the system come to life for the first time was an incredible feeling.

My local aldi will not let you grab a carrier bag at the self checkout they have to go and physically scan it for you makes you feel untrustworthy they seem to protect the bags more than anything els in the store

This week’s van build hit a major setback

I got the electrical board mounted and started wiring the van… only to realise I’d made a mistake that’s now delayed finishing the electrical system and a big Thankyou to Bearded Biker Photography for coming over and helping me

And on a serious note I messed up with the wiring up so yet again the electrical system is not finished my fault I didn’t crimp the lugs properly so I would like to apologise for the delay in the system finally being finished Screwfix have ordered me the lugs I need now kicking myself over this mistake

When you installed your electrical system, did you hide it away or leave it visible from the back of the van with some protection around it so you could show it off what would you do ?
Also… I’ve finally wrestled the electrical board onto the van wall Now comes the fun part — wiring it all up.
If you are looking for a electrical set up I highly suggest and recommend Vunked everything planned out with your own needs they even think of the small things like electrical tape

NEW VIDEO IS LIVE!

After a LOT of trial and error, we finally finished the solar panels on the van and completely rethought our electrical system until we found a setup that actually works with the space we have available

To celebrate, we took the van out on a mini road trip to meet up with Road School Adventures tho I didn’t get any recording done of our time there
I did record the drive there and the girls had a brilliant day together.
it was amazing to get to meet them and get to know them as not only a fellow member of vanlife community but also as friends

This build has definitely pushed us to our mental limits but we’re getting closer and closer to the finish line!
