AW11 MR2 Frunk Ducts✅
Designed for 's awesome build, these ducts focus on drawing air through radiators mounted in front of the firewall.
The main goal here was to redirect the air to a low pressure area on the hood, passing through the 'frunk' (front trunk). Maximising flow to cool the radiators as much as possible, whilst maintaining the OEM sunroof storage as shown.
Designs were made from scans of the front end of the car as well as the hood, so custom vents could be made in the same style as the OEM vents on the rear quarter panels of the car. There were many dimensional constraints to work with whilst trying to maintain an even cross-sectional area throughout the ductwork.
Custom firewall mounts were designed using the scan as a cutting boundary.
This project is far from finished, the final revisions are currently being printed. The main ductwork will be printed by Clayton then fibre glassed over and painted. The firewall mounts and hood vents are being printed using SLS in Nylon PA12 to achieve better strength and finish.
