“Amis Piling & Dredging recently completed the refurbishment of the road sluice gates which control the river levels on the old course of the River Bure for us at Buxton Mill. The project was technically challenging involving the replacement of two closely spaced roadside sluice gates and frames whilst having to maintain the river flow during the works. Due to this complexity and tight timescales, we initially struggled to find any contractor willing to take the job on until Kev at Amis Piling & Dredging was recommended to us. Thankfully, Kev provided solutions whereas others found problems and he meticulously planned the work, cleverly designing a temporary metal shuttering system to isolate each gate to allow them to be replaced separately so the river flow could be maintained. We were so grateful that Kev and his team undertook all the project management including organising the road closure and the relevant permits. The road closure restrictions meant that the site work had to be completed in just four days, Kev & his team managed to complete it within three and half days without sacrificing quality. Indeed, the craftsmanship of the finished oak frame far exceeded our expectations and the residents living in the Mill and village have all heaped praise on the professionalism and workmanship shown by Amis Piling and Dredging during the project. Commissioning refurbishment projects within a conservation area can be daunting and we are so pleased and relieved to find a contractor we can trust to make our stewardship of a local landmark so much easier.”
