Are you struggling with classically wiring two way & intermediate switches?

Then... Don't do it.

Use modern tech properly and all your worries will vanish

Check out this interactive explainer to compare for classic switching compares to using the same method that EVERY car in the WORLD uses.

🚀 Say goodbye to total CANbus network failures!

Ever had a single damaged cable or ground loop bring down an entire building installation? Not anymore.

Meet our new Velbus Domotica CANbus-to-IP Gateway.

Designed for smart buildings and industrial networks, this gateway lets you split your installation into completely independent, galvanically isolated segments. They act as one unified network, but if a physical segment gets cut, crushed, or shorted, the rest of the system keeps running flawlessly.

Two powerful modes:

🌐 Bridge Mode: Uses your IP network as a high-speed backbone for large-scale, multi-floor routing.

🕹️ Standalone Mode: Acts as an autonomous local bridge for high-risk zones.

Protect your uptime, isolate your faults, and simplify your architecture.

Still fitting SQUARE back boxes?

The Europeans have being using 68mm hole cutters and doing it faster for YEARS

Velbus Switches sit perfectly in these, and are all 15Vdc

With all the "how to wire a light switch" videos and animations, it's about time to show the 21st century way.

1x 2-pair data cable, from one switch location to the next.

No intermediate straps, no switch drops, not even any mains at the switch.

But think about it, how much safer & quicker is this?

ALL the mains voltage is safely out of the way, from Final Load to the marshalling boxes, the only thing that goes to the switch location is a 15Vdc data cable.

And best of all, this one location could control EVERYTHING in the property, which means you don't have to ask the customer what they want it to do until AFTER the decorators have left.

Had a great question from a newly qualified KNX partner this week.

"The wiring during KNX training looked really similar to Velbus — what are the pros and cons?"

It's a fair and smart question. The bus wiring topology IS similar. So is Rako's. And Lutron's. And several others.
Except that with Velbus® being CANbus, we really don't care about the topology.
Star, Tree or Strictly Bus, it'll all just work.
The real differences are in the software, the economics, and what happens when something goes wrong.

Here's my honest take.

KNX is genuinely brilliant for large commercial projects where you need granular data, complex energy management, and a protocol that can talk to almost any hardware. If that's your world, KNX is probably the right call.

But for residential, commercial or marine work — where the goal is a project that just works, adapts easily, and doesn't require a software licence to commission your 6th module — Velbus is a different conversation.

The commissioning software is free. Permanently. For any number of modules.

The hardware comes from one manufacturer. Which means when something needs resolving, there's one point of contact who can't point anywhere else.

And the integration story — OpenRemote, Home Assistant, openHAB, Node-RED, Control4 — is as straightforward as anything I've worked with.

There's also something coming later this year that I think will change quite a few minds about what "simple" actually means in this context. More on that in September. 👀

Happy to answer questions — this is a comparison I've been thinking about for a long time.

This might not seem much

But the back story is what we can sell as an advantage to proper or digital wiring.

While I've been away, my wife has very safely removed the switch, not exposed any mains voltage.

Painted around it

Happily carried on in the house for 24 hours while the paint dried, then put the "switch" back on.

Without dropping the RCBO to the lighting or having to survive in the dark.
