Jobs for the weekend

A little attention now can help set your roses up for next year.

Clear away fallen leaves and petals from around the base of your roses, and remove any leaves showing signs of blackspot or other disease. Keeping the area around your roses clean helps reduce the amount of diseased material left in the garden.

If you're growing roses in pots, keep an eye on the compost too. Even as the days start to cool, pots can dry out during warmer or windy weather, so water thoroughly when needed.
