Did you know you can specify the depth of char on your timber? 🖤

A lighter char might be perfect if you're looking for something softer than the deep, blackened finish traditionally associated with the traditional technique of Shou Sugi Ban.

Charred timber is a highly popular choice for low-carbon construction. Discover how this ancient technique supports sustainable building practices in this useful article: https://thelarchcladdingcompany.co.uk/burnt-timber-cladding-a-low-carbon-high-impact-design-choice/.

To preserve the fresh appearance of a lighter char, regular oiling helps protect against UV exposure. If you prefer a more natural finish, you can allow the timber to weather beautifully into its surroundings.

On World Habitat Day, we’re switching things up and bringing you something a little different from our usual projects! 🦇

We've supplied durable, responsibly sourced timber for a rewarding conservation project that's creating safe habitats for a local bat population. Dedicated volunteers at the Merseyside and West Lancs Bat Group have handcrafted these bat boxes to offer secure roosting spaces and boost biodiversity in the area.

The bat boxes have been installed at Heswall Golf Club and Brimstage Orchard. Both sites promote wildlife-friendly land management, which aligns with our environmental values.

Supporting projects like these is a reminder of how small actions can make a meaningful difference to local wildlife and our shared environment.

Square-edge timber delivers a clean, contemporary finish for both interior and exterior applications. Precision-machined to create a smooth all-round surface and square edges, it provides a consistent, refined appearance and allows the natural grain, knots, and charity of the timber to take centre stage.

Its clean lines make it a versatile choice for modern architectural projects. Find out more and request a sample today: https://thelarchcladdingcompany.co.uk/timber/cladding/profile-range/square-edge/.

During our recent sponsored walk for The Joshua Tree, we were delighted to see how fabulous the The Antrobus Loaf looks in our timber cladding. It blends beautifully into its natural surroundings, making it even more special to see in person.

This fantastic volunteer-run shop and café plays an important role in supporting the local Northwich community. It's well worth stopping by for a treat if you're ever in the area!

As a supplier to sustainable developments, we're proud to support Passivhaus developers and the growing number of retrofit teams choosing natural, low-carbon materials.

Earlier this year, we supplied larch shingles and battens to RAFT (Retrofit Action for Tomorrow) for the UK's first step-by-step Passivhaus retrofit, a 1978 mid-terrace townhouse in Lewisham. The project focused on low-embodied-carbon materials, reduced construction waste, and improved indoor air quality.

As an FSC-certified supplier of responsibly sourced timber cladding with strong sustainability credentials, we take pride in supporting projects that push the built environment towards a low-carbon future. If you're planning a Passivhaus or retrofit project, let's talk. We can provide performance-driven timber products ready for your next low‑carbon build.
