Curling, bubbling, and cloudiness in pouch lamination are usually caused by incorrect temperature settings or moisture. The machine, settings, pouch thickness and paper can all play a part. There are a few possible causes — here’s a few things to try...

➡ Check the heat
Make sure your laminator has reached its correct operating temperature before you start laminating. Insufficient or inconsistent heat can affect the finished result.

➡ Check for uneven heat
If one side of the machine is hotter than the other, the laminate can behave differently across the sheet and cause curling.

➡ Try a thicker pouch
Make sure you're using the correct pouch thickness and laminator setting for the material you're laminating. If you're using a very thin laminate, try moving to a higher micron thickness.

➡ Check your paper is dry
Paper can absorb moisture from the surrounding environment. Excess moisture in the paper can affect how it behaves during lamination and contribute to curling.

➡ Run it again
If your finished pouch is cloudy, try feeding it through the laminator a second time. This can help fully activate the adhesive and improve clarity.

The most important thing you can do to extend the life of your paper drill bits? Use wax paper regularly.

Placing a specialized wax-infused sheet on top of your paper stack before drilling helps coat the inside and outside of the spinning bit, reducing friction, preventing overheating, minimizing paper buildup, and helping protect against rust.
