‼️5 things most people get wrong when buying cable ties
1. Choosing the wrong length
Measure your bundle's circumference and add at least 50mm. Too short and it won't close properly. Too long and you're wasting material and creating unnecessary tails.
2. Ignoring tensile strength
Tensile strength tells you how much weight a cable tie can hold before breaking. A 2.5mm wide tie holds around 8kg. A 4.8mm holds 22kg. A 7.6mm heavy-duty tie holds up to 54kg. Match the strength to your application.
3. Using the wrong material for the environment
Standard nylon cable ties work great indoors, but they degrade quickly in sunlight. For outdoor use, choose UV-stabilised or black UV-resistant ties. For extreme heat, chemicals, or corrosive environments, stainless steel is your best option.
4. Forgetting temperature limits
Standard nylon cable ties operate between -40°C and +85°C. Outside that range, they become brittle or soft. If you're working in freezing conditions or near heat sources, check the temperature rating before you buy.
5. Bulk buying without checking specs
A 1,000-pack or a box deal might look like a bargain, but it's worthless if the ties are the wrong size, strength, or material for your job. Always check the specifications match your application before ordering in bulk.
