We’re open from 9am tomorrow (Monday) as we begin our final week.

Our last trading day will be Friday, October 31st, when we’ll be closing the doors for the very last time at 5:30pm.

Everything must go - we’ve reduced prices even further to 50% off* across the store.

After many wonderful years, it is with great sadness that we announce Blundells Hardware will be closing its doors at the end of October.

It’s been an honour to help you build, fix, and create - from the smallest DIY jobs to bigger projects and it is now time for Nick to enjoy his well-earned retirement.

Thank you for letting us be a part of the community, you welcomed us with open arms and we’ve loved getting to know all of you (and your dogs!). Longton has always been more than just customers you’ve been our neighbours and friends.

Some traditions never go away, we still use the shaft sharpener that Graham used to assemble all of our brushes!

Blundells of Longton

With a unique story stretching back to the post-war era and 1948; the hardware shop was originally set up by Ronnie Blundell, who left his trade as a barber and started a delivery round from the back of an ageing wagon, trading as ‘R. Blundell – Ironmonger’. Instantly successful, Ronnie quickly upgraded to a ‘step-inside’ mobile shop in a converted coach, which did the rounds on the streets of Longton and surrounding villages for several years.

Ronnie’s wife Lynn soon got involved, selling items from their home in Walmer Bridge, alongside the delivery round. In 1958, the extra sales prompted the search for a shop for Lynn to run – along with her sister, Irene.

Their original Chapel Lane shop, was leased to Blundell’s by Booth’s, who then also traded from the adjacent shop, on the understanding that Booth’s would one day extend into it. As the business grew, Ronnie eventually sold his coach to a local greengrocer and joined his family indoors, including son Graham who went on to run the business for many years.
