Our expanded mesh modular ceiling is not an acoustic product by default — and in most open-plan schemes it doesn’t need to be, because the absorption is coming from rafts, baffles, walls and floor.

Where the ceiling itself has to perform, the panel can be backed with an acoustic mat. We’ll specify the build-up alongside your acoustician rather than quote a number that wasn’t tested on this panel.
Honest answer beats a convenient one.

Metalspan’s Stiltech Mesh Line modular ceiling panels give you the freedom to specify the material that best suits your project — galvanised steel or aluminium. RB55 mesh:

Galvanised Steel
Powder coated · 4.8 kg/m²

Aluminium
Powder coated or anodised · 1.7 kg/m²

Each material brings its own inherent advantages — weight, finish options, cost and structural behaviour — making the choice a project-specific one rather than a universal answer.

The RB55 mesh offers 55% open area as standard, with visual openness of up to 70% depending on viewing angle — ideal for open-plan interiors where light and spatial depth matter.

✦ Modular sizes: 300 × 600mm and 600 × 1200mm
✦ Non-combustible metal substrate and mesh throughout
✦ An acoustic mat can be added behind the same modular mesh ceiling panel to enhance acoustic performance. We recommend Freudenberg Soundtex.

The Metalspan expanded mesh modular ceilings with Stiltech Mesh Line gives you the flexibility to decide exactly how open your ceiling is — from 15% to 60% open area — across modular panel sizes of 300 × 600mm and 600 × 1200mm.

At the open end of the range sits RB55 — 60% open area, the most transparent mesh ceiling panel we offer. Ideal for open-plan offices, retail and hospitality interiors where light, depth and spatial continuity matter.

Need acoustic performance too? Add an optional 10mm acoustic mat for a full acoustic ceiling solution.

One panel system, two performance paths. Our Metalspan Mesh Ceilings ship as an open-plan solution by default — modular 300x600mm and 600x1200mm panels on a concealed grid, engineered for clean sightlines and airflow.

Need acoustic control? The same panel takes a 10mm sound-absorbing mat (we recommend Soundtex from Freudenberg) to convert it into a full acoustic ceiling — no separate product line, no compromise on the look. Available in PPC-coated galvanised steel or anodised aluminium mesh — non-combustible metal substrate and mesh throughout.

One system. Open plan or acoustic — the choice is the client’s, not the constraint.

Fire performance starts with the material — but the complete system matters.

Metalspan modular expanded mesh ceilings panels use a non-combustible metal expanded mesh & metal substrate. However, the reaction-to-fire performance of the finished panel cannot be assumed from the substrate alone. The applied coating and, where specified, the acoustic layer can influence the final performance of the complete ceiling build-up.

Choose it based on the your project specifications, rather than relying on a blanket classification.
