🏗 New Build Residential Project | London, UK 🇬🇧

We’re pleased to share our involvement in a new-build house in London, where our team has provided a multi-disciplinary technical service from early design stages through to planning compliance.

For this project, our scope included:

▪️Architectural input to support the proposed layout and compliance strategy.

▪️Discharge of planning conditions, coordinating technical responses and documentation.

▪️Drainage design, including surface water strategy and coordination with local authority requirements.

Projects like this highlight the importance of integrated design, ensuring that architecture, planning, and engineering work seamlessly together to de-risk approvals and support a smooth route to construction.

New Project in Madrid, Spain 🇪🇸

We’re pleased to share that Westshore has been appointed to deliver the full structural design for a new residential development in Madrid.

The project features a 6-storey building plus a basement, with three apartments per floor and an exclusive rooftop swimming pool of nearly 30 m².

From a structural perspective, our team is developing a hybrid solution that balances performance, buildability, and long-term durability:

➡️ Reinforced concrete for the basement and parking levels, ensuring robustness, fire resistance, and optimal performance against soil pressures.

➡️ Lightweight structural steel for the superstructure, improving construction speed, reducing overall loads, and allowing greater architectural flexibility.

This combined approach optimises material efficiency while meeting the architectural vision and the demanding urban conditions of central Madrid.

Exciting Project Update! 🏡

We’re thrilled to introduce our latest new-build project — a spacious, detached six-bedroom home. Westshore will be providing the full structural design and Building Regulations package for this impressive development. Looking forward to seeing this one come to life!

We’re proud to be the engineers behind this exciting home extension project. 👷‍♂️📐

The design introduces a bright and open living space, with large glazed sliding doors connecting the indoors seamlessly to the garden. Natural light is maximised not only through the expansive glazing but also with a generously sized rooflight, creating a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere inside.
Structural considerations were key here – from supporting the wide openings to integrating the new roof with the existing property. The exposed blockwork and timber joists show the extension in progress, while the layout is already giving a clear sense of the scale and transformation to come.

It’s always rewarding to see our designs take shape on site, and we’re looking forward to the finished result of this modern addition.

We’re excited to be supporting the M&E design on a large, multi-unit development located right on the High Street of Luton, UK — a complex scheme with big ambitions.

As part of our ongoing role, we’ve now been instructed to provide a bespoke ventilation strategy tailored to meet the unique demands of this high-density, mixed-use site.

🏗️ Project in Progress – Apex Steel Frame Extension
Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at one of our latest structural designs in action!

Westshore Engineering have designed this apex structural steel frame with double-height clearance for a striking and spacious rear extension. The frame has been engineered to support large glazed openings and vaulted ceilings, creating a dramatic and light-filled addition to the home.

One of the key advantages of using a steel frame is the design flexibility it offers — allowing for expansive spans and multiple locations to add windows and bring natural light deep into the extension.

The foundation and blockwork are in place. Once completed, this space will offer incredible volume and architectural impact while seamlessly connecting to the original property.

We’re proud to unveil our latest collaboration with our partners in Spain — a breathtaking new villa nestled in the hills of Marbella. Our subsidiary firm in Spain has been appointed to deliver the full structural design for this striking residence, which seamlessly blends contemporary elegance with complex architectural form.

Spanning a basement and two floors, the villa features a sophisticated design across split levels, intricate roof systems, and dynamic geometry throughout — all with full sea view in a Prime Location.

It’s always a privilege to help bring ambitious visions like this to life, and we look forward to sharing more as the project unfolds.

🚧 Basement Construction Progress 🏗️

Works are well underway on site as we dig down for a brand-new basement level. Steel beams are in place, reinforced concrete works are progressing, and excavation continues at full pace.

This phase is all about creating a solid structural foundation, with careful coordination between temporary supports, steelwork, and groundwork. Great progress so far—watch this space!

Our client has opted for the use of easy joists, a smart choice that not only speeds up installation but also allows for efficient service runs—ideal for modern, well-coordinated builds.

The design embraces extensive use of glazing, bringing in an abundance of natural light and creating seamless connections between indoor and outdoor spaces. One of the standout features of this build is the impressive 10-metre steel beams, enabling expansive open-plan areas without the need for intermediate supports.
