18 Degrees Making a difference through light. We are a firm of lighting designers based in London. We don’t do what everyone else does, nor do we do what we did last time.

While much of our work is in the field of architectural lighting design, we are keen to explore light in all its forms and in a variety of settings. Hence our work spans fashion and retail to all kinds of buildings and places using natural and artificial light. We don’t have a house style; we take each project on it’s own merit and apply our creative process in a search for that lighting sweet spo

t. This yields designs that are tailored to each and every project. The interests of our clients are placed at the centre of our design thinking. We love what we do and we are told that we are great to work with. We are all about making a difference through light.

Yesterday, 18 Degrees proudly took part in the Ready Steady Light (RSL) competition organised by , and . In this exciting event, lighting designers competed head-to-head to create temporary exterior installations with a limited set of equipment in 180 minutes!

Our own lighting designer, Kevin Rosenstand, served as an IALD Judge, while junior lighting designer, Maria Laura Polselli, represented us as part of the IALD team.

Inspired by the surrounding flora, the IALD installation captured the distinct personalities of the two tree formations on the given site. One side embodied an open, inviting presence, while the other offered a more secluded and cold atmosphere. This contrast highlighted our theme of duality.

A huge thank you to IALD, SLL, and CIBSE for organising such an inspiring event. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect, create, and celebrate the beauty of light with our colleagues.
