A huge well done to our managing director, Mick, who successfully completed the Heineken Race to the Castle last weekend with friends Tim, Andy and Mark. He has just about recovered now from the 100km 20-hour walk, which wasn't helped by the constant rain!

Race to the Castle is a 100km Ultra Marathon which takes place in the stunning surroundings of the North East of England from Kirkhale to Bamburgh Castle to support a number of amazing charities. For more information please see the link below along with a few photos from the weekend! 🏅🏅🏅

A few progress pics from a major emergency call out last week!

Last Monday we received an emergency call out from our leading engineering customer in Huddersfield. On inspection it was clear the end termination has been installed without the flexible insulating bushing boots over the termination and switchgear bushings which suggests the end termination was not fully completed prior to testing and energisation. This meant the minimum clearances between phases and phase to earth could not be achieved and over time the end termination eventually broke down which resulted in an explosive arc.

We worked around the clock to ensure supply was back to site within 48 hours. This included removing the damaged switchgear and replacing it with a refurbished SE6 Isolator & CE6 11kV Circuit breaker. The damaged cable was also cut back and through jointed to a new leg of HV cable.

Thank you to all our engineers who worked tirelessly to ensure power was restored to our valued maintenance customer as soon as possible!

Introducing our newest maintenance customer - Yorkshire Wildlife where the lemurs definitely stole the show last week! 🐾

After such a long closure and a much anticipated reopening it was vital to ensure power to all of YWP’s facilities, including the brand new Atlantic Forest. To find out more about the new arrivals at Yorkshire Wildlife Park click here ➡️

There are definitely worse places to work, what a view! 👀

Our maintenance engineers are here on site today completing the customer’s first annual maintenance visit. With the UK holiday industry preparing to reopen it is important all electrical equipment is serviced and maintained to provide vital power to site. Our maintenance services ensure everything runs smoothly in the background so everyone can enjoy a well needed break! ⛱

Have you seen these before? As part of our charity work we have commissioned these amazing twiddlemuffs to donate to local care homes and hospitals for dementia patients. We cannot thank the individuals enough for making these at such an amazing quality!

Twiddle muffs help dementia patients by giving them something to occupy their hands, as often dementia can cause restless behaviours to develop. As well as keeping patients hands warm, the twiddlemuffs provide sensory and visual stimulation.

This is such an important cause with one person developing dementia every three minutes in the UK. It is important to us that our donations help the local community and we feel donating items such as these makes a greater and more personal impact than monetary donations.

The EOS range ready to be delivered to site this week for our leading M&E services customer. For this particular project, we are carrying out the supply and install of two EOS Feeder Pillars with 630A SE6’s close-coupled respectively with a 800kVA and a 1000kVA Transformer.

Using the EOS range has several benefits for our clients, including significant reductions in cost by removing the need for expensive cabling. For example, using the EOS range on this project saved our customer 10% of the overall project cost.

We are proud to save our customers money, always working in their best interest to tailor our services to their individual needs. If you would like to know more about the benefits and cost savings of the EOS range please download the brochure below or give us a call for a free quote on 0113 272 1222.

After a spontaneous visit from HSE last week regarding our covid procedures we received the following feedback:

"You are doing everything correctly and ESE is one of the best examples of understanding and implementing company responsibilities for keeping their employees safe with regards to COVID-19."

We are so proud to receive this feedback as we always put our employee's safety first. We have worked extremely hard to ensure we provide a safe working environment for all our staff, their families and our customers. This includes implementing new safety measures and procedures such as: installing antibacterial door handles, hiring extra vans to reduce car sharing, making mask-wearing mandatory and of course social distancing, temperature monitoring, and handwashing / sanitising procedures.

Covid is continuing to affect us all so it is vital we take these essential steps to keep everyone safe!

Keep a look out for our new fully electric van! We are excited to be part of Leeds City Council’s new electric vehicle trial, in which we will have this fully electric van for the next 2 months. As part of our environmental objectives we are always looking for ways to improve our sustainability and reduce our environmental impact. This trial will give us a great indication of the benefits of an EV, and the possible future for EV’s at ESE.
