A Woolly Mammoth tooth has been found at Pentney Quarry.

One of our Pentney Quarry Operatives, Kevin, has uncovered the tooth of a woolly mammoth on site.

Ice Age remains are often found in sand and gravel deposits laid down by rivers and meltwater, which means working quarries can sometimes unveil traces of animals that lived here long before us.

Finds like this are exciting and depend on someone noticing what comes out of the ground whilst they work. Thank you to Kevin for spotting this find and sharing it with the team.
