Another handrail, this time for a property down near Dores, on the south side of Loch Ness. It's turned out similar to the last one we did. A very nice easy build and install.

Something a little bit different. This handrail was designed to make the best use of the clients steps for their elderly visitors and to try and fit in with the appearance of the front of the house as they are keen gardeners. Quite a lot of forging in this one.

The client is happy so hopefully we've succeeded!

It's great to see the sun again!

It really makes the oiled finish on these table legs pop, this isn't an exterior finish so it's not something you see often.

Off to the client now for fitting to his bespoke wooden table tops.

This was a sample of a stair bannister rod that we made for a client in Aberdeen a short while ago.

Really pleased with how this turned out, the flower head especially since it is deceptively large and certainly tested the hammer.

Almost finished the restoration of these old cast iron gutter brackets for Letterewe House.

They are very thinly made but from a good quality iron with relatively low levels of impurities, which thankfully has meant that the numerous repairs that needed to be done have been fairly straightforward. They have been blasted and will now be painted ahead of installation back on site.

We just rebuilt these fabricated railings for a client in inverness. They were in need of some fairly serious repair and quite a lot was replaced including all the decorative features with custom forged pieces. The gates and railings have now all been blasted, galvanised and repainted with a marine grade paint so this shouldn't happen again.

A small restoration project for a repeat client in inverness. The original cast iron finial (the more ornate finial on the left) has been cleaned, and a few very minor repairs carried out before painting. The finial on the right is a copy to match one on a neighbours property and is galvanised steel, this had to be made from scratch as the original was missing.

A nice little project, should look great when they're up and installed.

Not all challenging projects are full of ornamental features. These stairs were oddly shaped with sharper and lighter curved areas which needed to be matched. Much safer than the rotten original railings.

Finally completed after a bit of a marathon install in a fantastic (though windy and rainy) location just outside Tain.

So that's the end of our contribution to the traditional building skills training for Forres Heritage Trust. These four did great, they all started as complete novices, but after 48 hours they had seen most basic hand forging processes and two of them successfully completed a forge weld, so I think it's safe to say they'd retained a lot of what they learned!

Lots of interest and enthusiasm which is fantastic to see!

The railings we built a few weeks ago have been galvanised, painted and finally installed today. A dry, warm-ish day so went smoothly without interruption.

Hit a slight problem as being perhaps overkeen with the core drill we discovered that the steps are built hollow, which made things interesting!
