Experience comes with time and practical use, but I feel many have forgotten this. I learnt to dive at 18 and did a commanders training course for SCBA at Morton in the Marsh when I was 25, because I'm passionate about safety.
When I look at any PPE, I want to know how and why it works, because then the physics makes sense of it all. Understanding this helps create better training courses, making it safer to use and even stay calm when events take place. To that end I do the same with my staff and children, to inspire passion by explaining how and why, this old picture shows my son, bottom left, at 10 metres deep taken by myself snorkelling down to his class doing their practical assessment. At 16 I put him through his Scott SCBA technician training which he passed, although he couldn't actually touch a set until he was 18! At Ashfield Products Ltd t/a Ash Safety we still inspire the same passions for every aspect of PPE, through training courses and genuine client advice based on experience and understanding. That's what makes us different.
Ash Safety, because every life matters.
