The 16” HIGH PEAK J-01 was our first original wheel design, intended to bring a rugged and retro look to the Jimny while offering a more aggressive stance and also being TÜV-approved.

Seen here in Matte Black with BF Goodrich KO3 tyres (with the white lettering facing inwards), they provide a minimalist and classic look for the current generation Jimny.

The APIO WILDBOAR D looks like a steel wheel, but it’s actually aluminium! Compared to the original Suzuki steelies, it has a larger diameter (16”), a wider width (6.0J) and a lower offset (+0) that, combined, help to give the Jimny a chunkier look.

The Gloss Black paint pairs nicely with the contrasting finish on the outer lip of the wheel which, when paired with a suitable tyre (such as the BF Goodrich KO3 pictured), provide the Jimny with a subtle “OEM+” aesthetic improvement.

We’re really enjoying putting some miles on our new Nomade! Even though these newer JDM Jimnys share the vast majority of their components with the original UK models from 2018 onwards, it’s clear that Suzuki have made lots of small improvements here and there over the years that add up to a more relaxing driving experience. Technically speaking, the 3-door model is now available in its fifth official iteration since 2018!

On our Nomade in particular, the sound deadening under the bonnet and on the firewall really help to muffle the engine noise, whereas additional sound deadening around the transmission tunnel and within the rear wheel arches help to reduce road and transmission noise at higher speeds.

In comparison, driving our trusty 2019 SZ5 Jimny feels much more raw and “back to basics” which, for many Jimny owners, is exactly the experience they crave!
