Harpenden URC Preschool & Nursery PTA

Harpenden URC Preschool & Nursery PTA URC PTA is a registered charity (registered charity number 1178895) and supports URC Preschool and Nursery through fundraising events.

The PTA was set up in order to help the Preschool with a shortfall of funding as new legislation meant that preschools could no longer charge top up fees once children were entitled to their 15 hours free childcare. Unfortunately, the money provided by the Government does not cover the Preschool’s running costs – this means there would be two less members of staff and the outstanding level of prov

ision would be threatened if the PTA didn’t help raise extra funds. It was decided that the PTA would not cover the cost of wages, but instead buy equipment and resources. There is a fabulous team of committee members, all of whom have or have had children at URC Preschool and Nursery. The leadership team consists of a Chairman, a Vice Chairman, a Treasurer and Secretary. These position are appointed at the start of each academic school year. We have one meeting per term to discuss fundraising ideas, what the school needs and any other ideas to keep supporting the Preschool. The PTA is open to anyone whose children are attending the Preschool and Nursery and we welcome everyone to join us. To highlight how funds raised have benefited the Preschool, in 2018/19 we were able to provide the following at URC Preschool and Nursery:
6 brand new iPads with safety covers for the children.
10 iPad minis for staff to carry out observations and use our online platform Tapestry. New outdoor equipment such as the mud kitchen, little reading hut & the red seesaw. Preschool learning equipment such as Numicon. Christmas party & Easter gifts for the children. Artificial grass in our garden. We would love to see new faces at our meetings throughout the year! We are grateful for your skills, ideas and any time that you can provide to help make our preschool a better place for the children. Please let us know if you would like to be part of our team - you do not have to attend every meeting to be part of the PTA, we are thankful for any support you can provide.

This is just for a bit of fun - and if your children don’t want to dress up that’s fine!

Someone from the PTA will be collecting money on the door each day at drop off. If you’d prefer to do it online you can access our QR code on the poster at drop off.

At school next week your children will be given sponsorship forms to take home in preparation for a sponsored bunny hop happening at school after Easter!
Children will be hopping / running / walking around the garden whilst wearing bunny ears. We will be making these ears with the children
during Preschool.

We will take the children out in their groups and teachers will make a note of the number of laps completed.
Unfortunately we are unable to have spectators, but staff will be taking photos which we will share on Tapestry.
