Build a sturdy floating shelf in an afternoon with ProBoard timber. Tools: drill, spirit level, stud finder, saw, screws. Materials (Pick-a-Piece): 1 × 18mm oak board 1200 × 200mm, 2 × 38×38mm softwood battens 1200mm, 1 × 120mm metal shelf bracket (hidden). Finish: satin clear lacquer. Estimated time: 2–3 hours. Steps: 1) Cut board to length and sand edges. 2) Fit battens to wall studs using a spirit level and 50mm screws. 3) Attach hidden bracket to battens, then slide shelf on and secure from underneath. Tips: pre-drill all screw holes to avoid splitting; measure and mark studs twice; finish before fitting for cleaner edges.
