Before and after! It’s jobs and customers like this that make me forget I actually work for a living. A total re-design of a fireplace swapping out an old 90s fireplace - replacing with a contemporary bath stone surround handcrafted here in Wiltshire by local craftsmen and ladies! A solid 30mm thick Welsh slate hearth at a whopping 1.5 wide, to create a focal point in the room, and finally of course the British made Clock Sudbury can you get anymore locally sourced than this?

Fireplace Transformation 🔥 |
This project was a great example of how a few thoughtful changes can completely transform both the look and safety of a fireplace.
The original setup featured a straight-lined opening which the customer felt looked a little too rigid for the character of their home. While the herringbone brick hearth had plenty of charm, there were also a few safety issues that needed addressing before installing a new stove.
We carefully reworked the fireplace opening to soften the lines and create a more traditional, timeless feel. The existing herringbone hearth was reused to retain its beautiful character and craftsmanship, while bringing the whole installation back up to current regulations for safety and performance.
The finishing touch was installing a robust Jøtul F100 wood-burning stove — a classic cast iron stove known for its durability, efficiency and timeless design. And here’s a great bonus: these stoves come with a 25-year warranty, which says a lot about the quality and longevity you can expect.
The result is a fireplace that not only looks warmer and more inviting, but is also fully compliant, safe, and built to last for decades to come.
A perfect blend of character, craftsmanship and reliability. 🔥

A really enjoyable project from start to finish, especially plastering the curves on the chimney breast. The final look works perfectly: a Stovax Huntington stove sitting on a limestone hearth, finished with a real British oak beam. A timeless setup that brings warmth and character to the room
