How much could you save if your implement had no, or minimal, overlap?

In a customer case study using a Case IH Maxxum and drill, we found that going from 15cm overlap down to 5cm gives you a 2.5% differential which applies to seed used, fuel used, time taken on the task 🙌🏻

Even a small reduction, such as 2.5%, can amount to a huge saving! For our customer, the 2.5% translated to thousands in savings due to input costs and the technological investment paid for itself within a year 📈

The maths has been verified with the Case IH Precision Technology team and were worked out as follows:
4m drill with 4m track spacing = 0% overlap
At 3.95m = 1.25% overlap (5/400)*100
At 3.75m = 3.75% overlap (15/400)*100

So using a rate of 250kg/ha as an example

At 4m track spacing, the drill is applying 250kg/ha
At 3.95m it is applying 253kg/ha (250+1.25%)
At 3.75m it is applying 259kg/ha

Please note, all figures are approximate and we worked out for this customer - actual savings may vary.
