The usb2ip is now firmed out and released. It takes any USB A cable and bridges it wirelessly which means your laptop thinks the actual device is connected to it.

It means I don't need cables over my feet while I'm logging but also means I can see, and push all of the 380 gauges to the Can2Gauge. Everything is starting to tie together nicely.

It should support Maxx, Link, Haltech and Emu. These are untested but with this being opensource, the community will only make it better.

Progress on the can2gauge has been insane. I've never made a double-sided PCB before but it's flawless so far. Waiting on the custom 1000nit touch panels to arrive, but a simulator to let me check functionality while I work on it helps me find bugs.

There's a lot to unpack in this and trying to keep it under a minute is impossible. Custom boot logos, dancing sprites, daisy chaining, canbus, obd-ii support (native and Bluetooth connection), DSG, ADC (16 channels), read and clear fault codes, kline (just like VCDS), OpenHaldex (either wired or wireless), usb2ip (for any Ignitron gauge), Maxx, Haltech, Link all in there too. Even the silkscreen has a message and there's a hidden Easter egg.

The possibilities are literally endless and I think I've got most people's wants already in this.

Let me know what features you'd like. Once displays arrive, the first one is going straight to for his sick Ibiza!

Forbes Automotive is 3 years old next month. We started with the Haldex controller as the first project but now we have quite the array of products on offer for all things automotive. So here's a list of each product with more information on what they do!

It's getting late so this is short until I do more testing. The can2gauge PCBs arrived today and I couldn't wait to test it.

The UI works, Bluetooth OBD connections work (tested on a BMW F15 X5m because it was the first car I got to). Next testing is CAN directly (both OBD2 and raw data), then kline and then get the screen onto it.

This is going to be the ULTIMATE opensource automotive gauge available. Custom boot logos, themes to suit your chassis/existing backlight, sprites to keep you company, a high/low side output for shift lights or alarms, it's all in here.

Another week, another series of updates for OpenHaldex. This time it was the community who delivered: has sorted some bugs and DashCAN has been integrated by the manufacturer. is working in the background to support it on HypeFIS.

Some proper community involvement and this controller gets better every week and there's even new enclosures in the pipeline.

This project can only get better and the community and their feedback makes it the best one out there!

Hopefully this appeals to people: I've started with a display purely to control OpenHaldex, but I've added:
k-line ✅
canbus ✅
OBD dongles ✅
ADC support ✅
custom boot logos ✅
themes/colours for every manufacturer ✅

There's a lot to unpack.

The firmware is mostly there, PCBs are being built and screens have been ordered. The "project" type displays just don't cut it, they're not bright enough so I've ordered custom brightness displays with touch.

Then it's onto testing!

PCBs are currently being manufactured and I'm finalising the best 2.1" display I can find. Wanting a touch based one with a high nits so the brightness is good in a dash environment.

A quick render showing the display and it's assembly process. Should be pretty good if I've not messed up any of the 800 traces on the PCB. 😂

Opensource, touch screen display for OBD, Kline, UDS, DSG, Haldex, support for Bluetooth adapters, it's absolutely feature packed.

Should be a great bit of kit! 🤟
