Amey delivers engineering design and operational delivery services for Scotland’s South West Trunk Roads Network on behalf of Transport Scotland. It is our responsibility to maintain the trunk road infrastructure to support the economic growth and development of the area. These services include the design and delivery of major road and bridge maintenance work, as well as inspections to ensure the routes remain safe and well-maintained. We also provide winter maintenance, which includes carrying out salting and snow clearing during the colder months, as well as gully cleaning and the repair of motorway lighting and traffic signals. Our incident response teams are always on hand as the first point of contact for our customers, who may run into problems while travelling on the network. The teams look after our customers’ safety and get people moving again as quickly as possible. The South West contract covers nearly 400 miles of road with our teams responsible for the safe maintenance and repair of over 1,600 structures from Glasgow to Dumfries and through to Ayr and Stranraer.

⚒️ Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, continues to undertake essential maintenance on the A737 St James' Viaduct Eastbound link to M8 Junction 28A throughout October 2026.

⛔️ The first of two extended full weekend closures will be in place from 8pm on Friday 23rd October until 6am on Tuesday 27th October 2026.

🗺️ Traffic will be diverted via the A737 off slip to St James' Interchange, rejoining the M8 via the Junction 29 eastbound on-slip.

⚠️ Please note a 30mph temporary speed restriction, enforced by average speed cameras, remains in place on the eastbound carriageway throughout this period.

🌟 A STAR Visit to Polmadie!🌟

We were delighted to welcome three fantastic young people from the STAR Project in Paisley to our Polmadie depot! 💜

It was a brilliant opportunity to hear about their ambitions, share an insight into the work we do across Amey and explore the many different career pathways available. 🚧👷

Hopefully, they left with plenty of food for thought and some fresh inspiration for their futures! 💡

⚒️ Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential resurfacing on the A898 and A82 from Thursday 1st October until Tuesday 20th October 2026, between 8pm and 6am each night.

Phase 3 of these works will take place as follows:

⛔️ Overnight closures of the A898 southbound at Erskine Bridge and the southbound A82 off slip will be in operation from Thursday 15th until Tuesday 20th October, with offside single lane closures also in place on the approach to the slips.

🗺️ Local traffic will be directed via Dunglass Roundabout, the southbound A82 and Clyde Tunnel. Non-HGV motorway traffic may join the M8 at Junction 25 after exiting the Clyde Tunnel. HGVs will follow a separate signed diversion route via the M8 westbound.

❗️ Separate daytime closures of the A82 southbound and northbound off slips to the A898 Erskine Bridge will also be in operation on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th October between 6am and 3pm respectively.

⚠️ A final overnight closure of the A82 southbound off slip to the A898 Erskine Bridge will be in operation on Monday 19th October, with traffic directed via Dunglass Roundabout to the southbound A82.

✅ All traffic management will be removed by 6am on Tuesday 20th October 2026.

🎉 What a September and what a start to October for Amey NMC South West!💜

It's been a busy few weeks supporting our communities, creating opportunities and celebrating some fantastic achievements!

💜 Over 200 colleagues came together for our Annual Safety Stand Down Day at Glasgow Science Centre.

🌷 Our teams supported CHAS Robin House, helping prepare their beautiful gardens for families.

🌱 We kicked off another fantastic community project at Take A Bow in Kilmarnock, providing work experience opportunities for young people.

🦪 Our Stranraer team and supply chain partners once again supported the annual Stranraer Oyster Festival.

♿ We marked National Inclusion Week with colleagues taking part in activities to raise awareness of accessibility and inclusion.

🏆 And October started with an AWARD WIN! At the CIHT Scotland Annual Dinner, our DYW Glasgow Construction Aware programme won the inaugural Community Benefit Award, while our Salvation Army employability programme received Highly Commended recognition!

👷‍♀️ 100 young people and counting! Since February, we've welcomed over 100 young people through the gates of Polmadie as part of our DYW Glasgow Construction Aware programme!

👏 A huge thank you to our colleagues, supply chain partners and community organisations who continue to make all of this possible.

💜 Making a difference in our communities, one project at a time!

⚒️ Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential bridge refurbishments on the A77 in Ballantrae from Monday 1st June until Friday 18th December 2026 under continuous 24-hour temporary traffic lights.

🚦 To facilitate jacking of the bridge, temporary overnight restrictions will be in place on Friday 16th October 2026.

⛔️ During this time, signals will be held on red for up to 15 minutes to allow works to be carried out safely, before returning to normal operation.

🗺️ A full road closure is not anticipated, and traffic will not be required to follow a signed diversion. A signed diversions will be put in place via the A714, A75 westbound and A751 northbound for emergency situations only.

⚒️ Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, continues to undertake essential maintenance on the A737 St James' Viaduct Eastbound link to M8 Junction 28A, with work to replace the expansion joint on the east abutment taking place throughout October 2026.

⛔️ Total overnight closures (8pm - 6am) will be in place from Tuesday 6th until Friday 9th October, and from Monday 12th until Thursday 22nd October 2026.

🚦 Bridge plates will be installed on Friday 9th October, with a 30mph average speed camera restriction in place on the eastbound carriageway until Saturday 31st October 2026.

🗺️ During overnight closures, traffic will be diverted via the A737 off slip to St James' Interchange, rejoining the M8 via the Junction 29 eastbound on-slip.

🚧 Two consecutive full extended weekend closures will also be in place later in the month, from 8pm on Friday 23rd October and from 8pm on Friday 30th October 2026.

⚒️ Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential resurfacing on the A898 and A82 from Thursday 1st October until Tuesday 21st October 2026 between 8pm and 6am each night.

Phase 2 of these works will take place as follows:

⛔️ Overnight closures of the A82 northbound between the off slip to the A898 and Dumbarton Road, the A898 Erskine Bridge off slip to the northbound A82, and the A814 to the A82 northbound will be in operation from Friday 9th until Monday 12th October.

⚠️ An offside lane closure and 40mph temporary speed restriction will also be in place on the northbound A82.

🗺️ Signed diversion routes will be in place for all affected traffic via Mountblow Road, the A814 Dumbarton Road and Gavinburn Junction.

🚧 Daytime lane closures on the northbound A82 will also be in operation between 6am and 8pm on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th October.

⚒️ Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential resurfacing on the A898 and A82 from Thursday 1st October until Tuesday 21st October 2026 between 8pm and 6am each night.

Phase 1 of these works will take place as follows:

⛔️ Overnight closures of the A898 northbound between Spectacles Roundabout and Erskine Bridge will be in operation from Thursday 1st until Monday 5th October. An offside lane closure and 40mph temporary speed restriction will also be in place on the northbound M898 during this time.

↩️ Local traffic will be diverted via the M898, A726, A82 Great Western Road and A814 Clydeside Expressway. Non-HGV motorway traffic may also exit the M8 at Junction 25 and follow the local diversion route via the Clyde Tunnel. HGVs will follow a separate signed diversion route.

🚧 Daytime lane closures on the northbound A898 will also be in operation between 6am and 3pm on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th October.
