🌟 We’re lighting up the night again!

We’re delighted to be supporting the Cheshire Dark Run at Bolesworth Castle again this year, raising funds for Hope House & Tŷ Gobaith Children’s Hospices. 💚

Taking place on Saturday 24th October, the event will see runners, joggers and walkers tackle a glowing 2.5K or 5K route around the fantastic Bolesworth Castle grounds.

After such a great first event last year, we’re really pleased to be involved again and to support a local charity doing such
important work for children and families across our communities.

Thin-walled components can be particularly challenging to machine accurately.

Our vans might travel thousands of miles every year, but sometimes the best service is right on your doorstep.

One of our vans was recently fitted with a new set of tyres by Saltney Tyre Service, ready for its journey to Glenrothes, Scotland. A stop at our local hand car wash afterwards and it was looking ready for another week on the road!

Some components tell a story before you even know exactly what they do.

This 'Inside the Part' feature takes a closer look at a suite of aluminium components produced for an aerospace actuation application.

This was not just a machining job. The parts had to move through a controlled route covering machining, coating, finishing, inspection and documentation.

The project included:

✔️ 6082 T6 aluminium
✔️ Machined pockets, bores and interface features
✔️ SurTec 650 coating
✔️ Primer and paint
✔️ Full inspection
✔️ Complete documentation for the manufacturing route

In aerospace manufacturing, the finished component is only one part of the story. The process behind it matters too - from material control and machining strategy through to finishing, inspection and final records.

Customer details remain confidential, but this project is a great example of how Tarvin Precision supports demanding engineering applications with controlled, traceable CNC machining.

Our latest 'Inside the Part' article looks at the manufacturing route behind a machined enclosure produced for a marine safety application.

At first glance, it is a compact aluminium housing. Behind the finished part, there was a much wider controlled process:

✔️ 6082 T6 aluminium
✔️ Machined internal features and lid interfaces
✔️ SurTec 650 coating
✔️ Primer and matt black paint
✔️ Two subcontract processes managed through the route
✔️ Full traceability from material certification through to delivery

For components used in demanding environments, the finished appearance is only part of the story. Material control, subcontractor management, process records and careful handling all matter just as much as the machining itself.

As always, customer confidentiality is protected, but this project is a good example of the level of control required when a precision component moves through machining, coating, painting and final delivery.

July Manufacturing & Machining Update

As we move through July, the aerospace manufacturing sector continues to focus on one challenge above all others: increasing production while maintaining quality, traceability and delivery performance.

Next week, Farnborough International Airshow 2026 will bring together manufacturers, OEMs, suppliers and technology providers from across the global aerospace and defence industries. Alongside new aircraft announcements, much of the conversation is expected to centre on manufacturing capacity, automation, digitalisation and supply chain resilience.

The latest UK manufacturing data shows that the sector is still expanding, although growth has moderated compared with earlier in the year. Manufacturers continue to balance strong production with softer incoming orders, highlighting the importance of accurate forecasting, efficient planning and dependable supply partners.

For precision engineering businesses, several themes continue to stand out:

Inside the Part: Aluminium Assembly for a Scientific Application

A closer look at one of our recent projects.

We produced this aluminium assembly for use in a scientific application, with the wider customer project kept confidential.

The part was machined from aluminium 5083 and clear anodised to DEF STAN 03/25, giving it a clean and controlled finish.

It includes a large cylindrical body, internal machined features, access windows, fixing points and fitted internal elements. We also carried out part assembly before delivery, helping the customer receive a component that was ready for the next stage of build.

This project is a good example of how precision engineering often involves more than machining alone. The planning, finishing, handling and assembly all need to work together.

Inside the Part: Aerospace Gearbox Casings

A closer look at one of our recent projects.

We manufactured these aluminium gearbox casings for use in an aerospace application, with the final application kept confidential.

This was a great example of how much goes into a precision component beyond the machining itself.

The parts were machined from aluminium 6082 T6, then went through non-destructive testing, Alochrom treatment, masking, primer and a matt black painted finish.

We also completed full inspection reporting and First Article Inspection documentation to support the quality requirements of the project.

It is a good reminder that a finished component is only part of the story. The planning, inspection, finishing and paperwork behind it matter too.
