A fun day filming this!

Do pneumatic tube systems save the NHS time?

From a hospital ward to labs half a mile away, we compared manual sample transport with a pneumatic tube system.

The difference was clear.

Now imagine those time savings across a full hospital day, urgent samples, multiple wards and busy NHS teams.

Less time walking samples.

More time supporting patients.

Every minute matters in healthcare.

We recently welcomed Andrew Buxton to our HQ, author of Cash Carriers in Shops and a lifelong enthusiast of historic cash handling systems.

The visit was particularly interesting given Quirepace’s historical ties to the original Lamson company, which developed many of the early cash carrier systems Andrew has written about.

During his visit, we gave Andrew a tour of our facilities and showed how pneumatic systems are used in practice today. While once common in retail environments, this technology is now widely used in settings such as NHS hospitals, supporting the transport of blood samples and medical supplies.

Andrew also had the opportunity to see a working system in action, demonstrating how the technology operates in a modern environment.

We would like to thank Andrew for taking the time to come and see us!

We recently appeared on BBC’s The Repair Shop: On the Road helping restore part of an old Lamson pneumatic cash system.

A big thank you to Sam at Walker & Ling for welcoming us into such a fascinating heritage project.

Before electronic payments, these systems were used in shops to send money safely from tills to the accounts office using pneumatic tubes.

Today our engineers mainly work on modern pneumatic tube systems in hospitals, transporting blood samples between departments.

You can watch the episode on BBC iPlayer – The Repair Shop: On the Road (Somerset episode).

The annual Christmas raffle was held at Quirepace yesterday afternoon, featuring a fabulous 66 prizes up for grabs. Thank you to everyone who donated. This year, Graham Hall selected the charities, choosing Ickle Pickles and The Elizabeth Foundation, both of which are close to his heart. We raised a whopping £407.00 to be split between them, so well done to everyone who donated prizes and bought tickets. Also a big thank you to Tracey & Vickie's mum who donated the proceeds from her festive knits 👏👏 🎅🎄⛄
