Browne to Replace 722m of 12” Water Mains on Offord
Road, London for Thames Water.

In an exciting development for the Offord Road community, Browne is preparing to replace 722m of 12-inch cast iron water mains as part of a significant infrastructure project for Thames Water.

The replacement of these outdated mains is a critical step towards improving water supply reliability and preventing future pipe bursts and floods, which have previously caused disruptions for local residents and businesses.

To engage with the community and provide detailed information about the project, Thames Water and Browne hosted a successful drop-in session on Offord Road in cooperation with Islington Council.

We are pleased to announce that Browne have recently celebrated an impressive milestone. Last month we crossed 70,000m of pipe in the ground in AMP7 to date. Through strong collaboration with the Thames Water team, we have maintained abandonment levels of the old network of over 82% to date, and formally handed over 100 schemes to our client which has seen handover at an all-time high, reducing timescales down to 8 days. By the end of AMP7 we will have renewed 82,000m of the Thames Water network. This gives us a great foundation for the increased AMP8 workload.
A big thank you to all the members of the Thames Water Browne team that contributed to reaching this milestone.

We're happy to share some more photos from our joint volunteering with Affinity Water. Despite the muddy conditions, the atmosphere was filled with camaraderie and enthusiasm. The collaboration between Browne, Affinity Water, and the Hertfordshire and Middlesex Wildlife Trust showcased the positive impact that can be achieved when businesses and charities unite for a common cause.

"Having Browne and Affinity Water here today volunteering has been invaluable because the work here has not been touched for a long time. It would be virtually impossible to do this on my own. I do have a few volunteers based in Buntingford who have also joined us today to remove all this Himalayan balsam that you can see here. We wouldn’t be able to do this without the extra help." ~ Award Winning Conservationist, Derrick Guy, Living Rivers Champion, Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust

We look forward to more opportunities to work alongside our clients and community partners in the future, continuing to make a positive impact on our local environment.

Browne’s Helping Hands volunteers recently joined forces with a team from Affinity Water, one of our valued clients, for a rewarding day of community service. Together, we participated in a joint volunteering initiative with the River Beane Restoration Association, focusing on an important environmental task: clearing Himalayan balsam from a local river.

"It was a great day out of the office for Affinity and Browne to get involved in some collaborative volunteering. Balsam bashing was hard work but rewarding, and not without wet feet (except for those who brought waders!). Thanks to all who came and helped support Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust who organised the day for us." ~ Nadia Wheadon MCIWEM, Project Manager, Below Ground Asset Delivery, Affinity Water Limited

The day was a wonderful opportunity to strengthen our bonds with Affinity Water and share a meaningful experience outside the usual professional setting. Working side by side with our clients to serve the community was immensely fulfilling and reinforced our shared commitment to environmental stewardship.

We are thrilled to announce that two of our employees were shortlisted for the CECA (Southern) Awards 2024! Riley was nominated for the Most Promising Apprentice L2-3, and Aron for the Most Promising Apprentice L4-7. Both attended the prestigious CECA Southern Annual Lunch & Awards Event in June, at The Brewery in London.

Although they did not win, being shortlisted is an incredible achievement and testament to their hard work and dedication. We are immensely proud of Riley and Aron for their remarkable accomplishments. Congratulations to both!

We are delighted to announce an exciting collaboration between the Browne Group Companies: Browne, Enisca Browne and Enisca. In our commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion, we recently participated in the Investors in Diversity survey to commence our journey to accreditation.

In June, we reviewed the survey results and held our first extended FREDIE Forum meeting, which now includes representatives from all three business units, creating a powerful platform to share ideas and support each other.

This marks the beginning of a crucial phase: developing action plans tailored to each business unit's unique starting point. We have identified common areas for collaboration that will drive our diversity and inclusion efforts forward.

We believe this joint initiative will not only boost our individual efforts but also greatly improve our collective impact on promoting diversity and inclusion within our organisations and beyond. 🚀

Justin, 14 years old and Tyler, 17 years old who had the opportunity to rotate through various departments within the business to gain a comprehensive understanding of different roles and get an overview of our organisation. This initiative was coordinated by Sophia Bruce, our Learning & Development Advisor with an aim to inspire and help the students make informed decisions about their future career paths in the construction industry.
